About Kathy Cannon Wiechman: Kathy is a former teacher of Creative Writing and Beginner French. She was also a Language Arts tutor. But writing for Middle Grade and Young Adults has been her lifelong passion. She honed her craft at Highlights Foundation workshops, and eventually signed a contract for her first novel. She lives in Cincinnati.

Kathy Wiechman's School Visits & Speaking Engagements: Kathy does school visits to talk to students (Grades 4-10) about historical fiction, American history, and the importance of perseverance. Kathy also speaks at children's literature conferences (to teachers and librarians) about the value of historical fiction in the classroom, and talks to groups of writers on writing in general, and the publishing business. Audience: Youth or Adult.

NOT ON FIFTH STREET (2017): It's 1937, and a storm is brewing over the town of Ironton, Ohio. Teens Pete and Gus Brinkmeyer struggle with growing differences in their relationship. When rain begins to fall, the Ohio River rises, and so does the tension between the brothers. No one anticipates the rain will last nearly two weeks and the river will reach record levels. With a flooded river between them, both boys need to dig deep within themselves to ensure survival for themselves and those they care about. They must also face trying to restore their relationship. (Ages 12+)
