About James Bissell: Jim Bissell is one of Ohio's premier botanists. He is responsible for much of what is currently known about plant diversity and distribution in Northeast Ohio, particularly the Snow Belt. His work has helped preserve land with rare species and habitats throughout the region. Bissell began working at the Museum in 1971 as a gardener and collections assistant. A year later he was named curator of botany. Dr. Bissell manages the Cleveland Museum of Natural History's Natural Areas Program.
